Culina's have their own Bible

September, 2015

Dear Friends Near and Far,

Dave & JoseHello from Dallas, Texas! Thank you for praying—in May God miraculously provided the remaining support that we needed, bringing us up to 100%! His timing was perfect, as always. José has been working full time for three months now! He provides computer support to colleagues who work in the Americas. We feel honored to be part of supporting Bible translation. It’s an enormous task and we get to be part of it! You too!

It’s great to be at this hub here in Dallas as it is the best place for us to be located in order to serve the entire Americas Area staff. José and I desire to have the greatest impact possible for millions of people who have no access to God’s Word in their own language. We are excited about what God has in store for our family, our ministry and the overall Bible translation movement. For the first time in history there are more Bible translation projects in progress than the number still remaining. The task is still overwhelming in human terms, but we serve a God “who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, …to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20.

Another New Testament has been completed in Peru! After years and years of set-backs and hard work, the NT is now in the hands of the Culina. The completion of a NT is a huge deal. A big celebration took place in the village in July. Culinas dressed in traditional clothing and adornments, they sang and danced as boxes of NTs were opened and distributed. Praise God!

We are overwhelmed with thankfulness for your prayers for our baby’s arrival. We look at her and cannot believe that God has entrusted us with another little life; what a privilege and huge responsibility! Ruthie Elena Chambilla was born March 25th at 8:04 in the morning and weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces. She had mild jaundice but after a day under the special lights she was fine to come home. The weeks since her birth have flown by. We’re all enjoying little Ruthie so much!

We have loved watching the changing of seasons here in the US. Spring-time was beautiful—seeing the leaves on trees appear and the different shades of green all over remind me that God restores and brings new life. And summer-time in Texas? Well…let’s just say that we’re loving our air-conditioning!

Again, we thank you for your friendship, prayers and support.

We send our love,

José and Lisa
